Summary: The Neweys Runaway Bay and Nind Street Southport stores are temporarily closed. Gold Coast Dry Cleaning Specialists (GCDC) has been the dry clean processor for both stores and is coordinating the safe return of all customer garments. Please do not attend the Neweys stores — they are closed. We will SMS you directly once your items are ready for collection.

Due to circumstances beyond their control, the Neweys stores at 144 Bayview Street, Runaway Bay and 48 Nind Street, Southport are temporarily closed. The appointed representatives have confirmed that customer garments lodged at these stores remain the property of customers and are to be returned in an orderly manner.
GCDC has processed every customer order through our system and holds complete order records — docket numbers, contact details, item descriptions, processing status and pricing. We are working directly with the appointed representatives and the respective landlords to retrieve and consolidate all customer garments at our facilities.
Step 1 — Stocktake (in progress). We are currently conducting a full stocktake of all customer garments already at our facility. These fall into three categories: (1) not yet cleaned, (2) partially cleaned, (3) currently in cleaning.
Step 2 — Retrieval from the stores (in progress). Completed garments remain inside the Neweys stores. We are coordinating access with the appointed representatives and the landlords and will retrieve these items as soon as access is granted. A full inventory record will be maintained throughout.
Step 3 — Consolidation and completion. All customer garments will be transferred to and held at GCDC facilities. Any outstanding cleaning will be completed at the original price.
Step 4 — SMS notification. Once your order is ready, we will send you an SMS to the phone number on your original Neweys docket. If your number has changed, please email us so we can update your record.
Step 5 — Collection. Collect your items at whichever location is more convenient (see below). Please bring your original Neweys docket. If your docket is lost, we may be able to locate your order using the phone number on file. Any unpaid balance from your original order is payable on collection — pricing is unchanged and no additional handling or consolidation fee applies.
Please read this section carefully. It explains what GCDC can and cannot do as the dry clean processor for the closed Neweys stores.
Unknown garment quantity inside the closed stores. We do not yet know the full quantity or condition of garments held inside the Neweys Runaway Bay and Nind Street Southport premises. Once access is granted, the retrieval will be documented and every item will be inventoried and logged in our system.
Items lost before 23 April 2026 are outside our control. GCDC first became aware of the store closures on 23 April 2026. Any garments that were removed, misplaced or damaged at the Neweys stores before our involvement may not be within GCDC's control. We commit to retrieving and returning everything that is accessible to us from that date onward.
Store access depends on landlord consent. Entry to the two closed premises requires consent from the respective landlords, which is being coordinated through the appointed representatives. GCDC has no independent right of entry. Retrieval cannot commence until that consent is granted, and we are therefore unable to guarantee a specific date.
GCDC will not station staff at the closed Neweys stores. All customer collections will take place at GCDC's own locations (Bundall HQ or Hope Island) once items are consolidated. We are unable to place staff at Nind Street Southport or Runaway Bay to hand items to customers there.

You may collect from either location regardless of which Neweys store you originally lodged your garments at.
Your original Neweys docket (or the docket number). If the docket has been lost, bring the mobile number you provided when lodging the items — we will search our records. Photo ID may be requested if there is any uncertainty about identity.
If your original order included an unpaid amount (for example, pay-on-pickup orders), that balance is payable on collection. The price is the same as originally quoted at the Neweys store — no surcharge, no handling fee.
We understand that some customers have items required for weekend events or other time-sensitive occasions. If your collection is urgent, please contact us on the details below and we will do our best to prioritise your order where possible.
